Two Film Projects Based on Max Porter’s novels ‘Shy’ and ‘Grief is the Thing with Feathers’

We are excited to share that Max Porter has written a film which will go into production in late Spring this year. It’s a reimagining of his most recent novel Shy, through the lens of a teacher at the school called Steve, which is the title of the film. It is produced by Cillian Murphy’s production company Big Things Films. Cillian will star as Steve and Netflix are financing. Max will also Exec Produce. Tim Mielants (Small Things Like These) will direct.

Film Adaptation of ‘Grief is the Thing with Feathers’, Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, goes into Production

The feature adaptation of Max’s internationally bestselling novel is currently in production in London. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Dad, the film is co-produced by Cumberbatch’s company SunnyMarch and Lobo Films, with financiers including Film4. Crow has been created for the screen in collaboration with the sculptor Nicola Hicks. It will be released as The Thing With Feathers, on a date to be announced.
